Where to hang a mirror in the living room? A practical and stylish guide
A mirror in the living room is an excellent way to optically enlarge the space, add elegance to the interior and create a focal point for the arrangement.
A mirror is not only a practical element of interior design but also an important decorative detail that can visually enlarge a space and add elegance to it.
To enjoy the effect for a long time, it is worth ensuring proper and stable mirror installation. In this article, we will step by step explain how to mount a mirror using hangers to achieve the best effect and ensure the safety of household members.
What will you need?
A mirror with hangers
Foam spacers
Measuring tape and pencil
Spirit level
Degreasing agent
Cloth
Drill with a suitable drill bit
Wall plugs and hooks
Clamping pliers/hammer
The first step is to properly prepare the surface of the mirror. Place it on a stable, flat surface in the position you intend to hang it (vertical or horizontal). Then thoroughly clean the areas where the hangers and spacers will be attached. It is worth using a degreasing agent and thoroughly drying the surface with a soft, clean cloth.
Remove the protective film from the adhesive on the metal hangers. Attach them evenly, keeping a distance of about 6 cm from the edge of the mirror. Ensure that the surface to which the hangers adhere is completely dry and free of grease. Remember that hangers achieve full strength only after 24 hours! Therefore, before finally hanging the mirror, be sure to wait for this period.
Foam spacers ensure that the mirror adheres evenly to the wall. Remove the protective film from the adhesive and attach them to the back of the mirror, also keeping about 6 cm distance from the edge. These spacers prevent uneven adherence of the mirror and protect it from potential damage.
Using a measuring tape, precisely measure the distance between the centers of the attached hangers. Then transfer this measurement onto the wall, marking the appropriate points with a pencil. Use a spirit level to ensure that the marked points are at the same height. This will ensure that the mirror hangs straight and aesthetically.
In the marked spots, drill holes using a drill with a suitable bit. Be careful not to damage any hidden electrical or water installations in the wall while drilling. Insert wall plugs into the drilled holes, then screw in or hammer the hooks. Ensure the hooks are stable, as they will bear the weight of the mirror.
24 hours after attaching the hangers, carefully hang the mirror on the hooks, sliding it from above. (If the mirror is heavy or large, consider mounting it with the help of another person.) Make sure the mirror is securely mounted and that all elements fit properly. Thanks to the foam spacers, the mirror should adhere evenly to the wall without unsightly gaps.
Installing a mirror with hangers is not complicated but requires precision and proper preparation. By following the described steps, you will ensure that your mirror is hung securely, safely, and aesthetically. Remember to wait a full 24 hours for the adhesive to reach its full strength. Now you can enjoy a perfectly mounted mirror that will adorn your interior for many years.
